Tour de France Grand Départ Yorkshire 2014

P1000302It may be more than a year away but excitement was in the air (along with snow and fireworks) at tonight’s Le Tour Yorkshire event. Tonight Leeds Town Hall was packed full of residents and visitors watching performances and awaiting news of the cycle route. Local celebrities and sports heroes were also at the town hall giving interviews and celebrating the event.

And as the snow came down and the chill set in, it was nice to see that it didn’t stop people from supporting their county. It certainly didn’t stop fire jugglers from doing their thing and mixing with the crowd.

The evening ended with a spectacular set of fireworks, which looked great against Leeds Town Hall lit up the snowy night’s sky. All in all the evening was a great success. Now I (and I expect many others) are left in anticipation about what’s next for the great county of Yorkshire.

On the 5th and 6th July 2014 Le Tour will journey through Yorkshire. Starting in Leeds, the route will journey through Harewood, Otley and Ilkley and will end up in Harrogate. On the second day the route will journey from York to Sheffield via Huddersfield. You can find out more about the route here:
